February Update, Drawing and Concurrency
February 5,2008 16:33 - Rollie
It's that time of the month again and we have calculated the January concurrency numbers provided by the
CensusPlus UI Addon.
I guess this ole girl still has quite a bit of life left in her? Concurrency numbers are up quite dramatically in January, both in EU and US. This is likely attributed to the Christmas holidays and many people receiving WoW as presents, although this could be also due to continued interest in the changes that have come since patch 2.3.
As many of us experienced right after Christmas, queue's began to be the norm on many servers during prime time hours. Even my home server of Destromath is still experiencing nightly queues after free transfer offers.
I have little doubt that sometime during the month of January that Blizzard broke 1M concurrent players at some point in time. The average for all of January during primetime nearly hit 940K concurrent users so I would be willing to bet that at some point the 1M mark was hit.
At any rate, if last year is any indicator, we may see a slight increase for February, and then start seeing an expected decline until at least patch 2.4 hits, and ultimately WotLK.
In other news, tickets have been assigned for January for our monthly drawing and I will draw the winning numbers shortly! Don't know about our monthly drawing? Check out how easy it is to enter and have your shot at $100 prizes!
