I'm one of only four people, in Denmark, who bears my name.
However, in a way, my name is till unique:
- the 3 other people, are all over 60 years old (don't ask how I know)
- the 3 other people have middle names, where I only have first & last name.

This means, I don't like my name to be too public..
My RL friends have my RealID, but everyone else can MAYBE get my BattleTag...

Hello there!

I am not 100% sure, which things you are exactly after... but it sounds you'd better be contacting Rollie, the site Admin, directly and since he has been occupied with real life matters for a very long while, I can't guarantee that you'll get a reply. Also, many character profiles aren't tied to their players as most WoW players don't actively run Censusplus. In fact, a large portion of the player base doesn't even know about this site. Also, even those who both run Censusplus and use the site don't necessarily claim their specific characters (or in some rarer cases, even have accounts here, choosing to submit anonymously).

As to the total play time of specific characters (the kind displayed by the game with the /played command), I am afraid that outside asking every single player personally that piece of information is only available to Blizzard Entertainment and I don't think they'll release that info to outsiders. They might give you a global average or something if you ask nicely, but I would not be surprised if they flat out refuse.

And trying derive even limited info from here would be pretty futile. Only an extremely small portion of characters are accurately recorded throughout their existance, as submissions are voluntary. I have generated almost 18 million updates for this site... yet I can't tell you when my main reached level 13... that and many other parts of his early existance were never recorded and have therefore been lost forever. In fact, since even Blizzard doesn't store absolutely every piece of data, I don't think even they could tell me that any more. In fact... the first time he appears here is on June 18th, 2008... by which time he is almost two months old and on level 33. And there are a lot of additional holes until November 8th, 2008 (I became a member here on November 7th, 2008).

I have to assume these were not the kind of answers you were hoping for. I am just a long term Censusplus user, so I have no decision powers of any kind. However, if you want to post clarifications and / or additional questions, you are welcome to do so. I and probably some other long term users might be able to shed some light... or not. Remains to be seen.

Interesting idea. However, it might be better if the process was handled automatically by the site. Anyone who was not seen for, say 30, 45 or 60 days would switch to "Inactive" status and listed as such in the Ex-members list and the specific character's history. That way they would not clutter the guild member lists, but if they were seen again later, they would simply resume their former guild status.

That way, there would be no way to abuse the system short of someone who was solely gathering info on a specific realm and faction falsifying his / her .lua files by manually deleting specific character(s) from them before every submission.

I've updated the Census data from my realm, and the link still doesn't work correctly.

Some other characters on the realm work fine, but it seems that on March 26th/27th 2008 something has gone wrong (either with the upload or with the backend processing), as those where it doesn't work all share that date as the only entry.

Examples:
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/char/EU-Wrathbringer/Xelas
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/char/EU-Wrathbringer/Veddartha
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/char/EU-Wrathbringer/Paowin
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/char/EU-Wrathbringer/Felastra

I've also found out that the name in the URL is case sensitive, so ".../Surprise" gives another result than ".../surprise" or ".../SURPRISE". Couldn't find a combination that linked to the correct result though (all others were just completely empty).
(And the server or region is case insensitive.)

                                      Thank you for input...

As I noted on my post of 29.4., it's really hard to make any reliable overall observations as we simply don't have sufficient data. Especially since the data that I personally get is conflicting. Some realms have more people than a year ago (like EU-Magtheridon that really benefitted from being turned into a PvE realm), others remain about the same and yet others are obviously down.

Also... since the most wanted lists are a total disaster on EU side... we are actually in a situation where we will be getting a higher new count than last month simply because we are losing data like there is no tomorrow... and at the same time, the updates figures have generally gone down. Unless I manage to get very lucky during the rest of the month, I am actually going to get my first ever under 300k updates month... and that after 30 months of above that in a row.

In light of April's figures... I can fairly safely say I already know that I won't drop out of the top 7 new ones and am already almost guaranteed the number 1 spot on the monthly updates... even if I score my worst ever result. That feels a bit weird. :/

No, scratch that... That feels very weird. Until now, being in the top 3 of both monthly lists has taken quite a bit of effort... This month... in theory, if I quit complety right now and everyone else would exactly double their results (since 50% of the month will be gone very soon ), I would drop to 3rd on the new list and retain my 1st place on the monthly updates list.

If I quit and everyone pushed hard and tripled their current figures? I would still be 7th on the new list and 2nd on the updates list. If everyone else could quadruple their results? I would most likely barely get pushed out of the new ones top 10 and still retain 4th place on the updates list.

x5? At that point, yes the new ones list would be just a dream... With my 25 511 losing to Nickdman's theoretical result of exactly 34 000 at 9th spot and someone else's results taking 10th, 11th, etc spots ahead of me... But even at that rate, I would still score 7th on the updates list, just ahead of rji who would have 132 170 updates against my current 132 988.

I hope my text doesn't sound too much like a brag... because I really can't brag about likely getting my worst ever updates results. However, it should point out that general result levels are really low.

US side is still somehow surviving... but the EU side figures are... just sad.
I just wanted to post, and I waited a good ammount of time to do so, that the changes to the addon and site seem to be working fine. IMO even better than Pre-Cata!

My updates are counted faster it seems, before it was a day or two delay from upload to count, now it's hours.

I am not sure if we are not getting as many uploads or the new changes are great.

If the new changes are to blame, then I say, they were well worth the wait!

I'm looking export historic data on a per realm basis? I want to develop historic player trends and patterns toy model for post cata release predictions.
The entire dump would be fantastic, but if I had to pick specific fields, it would be faction, date, time, class, lvl, guild.
My purpose would be to chart a server population in relation to holidays, launch events, world events, seasons, and space between launches.

I'm sure that it would be a huge dump, but would only have to be done once, and have many other applications for its use by other people.

Yeah, I specifically did not put in a easy mechanism to download the character history data. It would be too easy for someone to basically steal the entire database that way.

I would not be opposed to setting up a services API where requests can be made and results returned in XML or JSON or whatever, but I would want to be able to monitor and restrict the number of queries.

After I discovered that the forum software is mangling any text between a "less-than" and a "greater-than" symbol (i.e., angle brackets), I thought I had better check this posting of my script. Sure enough, it is also mangled. Here's another copy with "~{~" and "~}~" substituted for all left and right angle brackets, respectively. To use, just reverse the substitution after copying.

Sorry about the confusion. I wouldn't expect phpBB to do any kind of (apparent) attempted HTML parsing inside a code block.
