Hello everyone!
I have been looking a lot at the top contributors page and something occured to me...
Both all time top 10 lists change very slowly. And the monthly lists seem to have very small differences between about positions 6-7 to 10 every month.
So, I was thinking: How would things change, if the lists expanded from top 10 lists to say top 20 lists? These are my assumtions:
All time top lists would become slightly less static as I would imagine that there aren't very large numbers of submission makers with very high submission numbers.
And the longer monthly lists might be able to spark up a bit more friendly competition (and thus increase submission numbers) as one might be more likely to think something like: "Hey! I need just a few hundred more to go up 3 places!" as opposed to: "Meh! I still need 20 000 just to reach 10th, I am not going to bother.".
@everyone: Your opinion?
@Rollie: Would this change require a lot of work? |

But you are always #1 on a monthly basis
From memory, I think that it used to be the top 20 players. But after it was revamped, it shrunk down to 10. |

Hello again!
Well, not ALWAYS... In fact, I am not even very good at censusing. Several members of this community could easily sweep me down several places, possibly even out of the top 10. The key element, however, is time. Since I unfortunately have neither a job nor a girlfriend , I have lots of time. And as Censusplus is so easy to use, I very often have it running on the background, while I read forums, write applications, etc... Over a month, it adds up.
As for there being 20 in the lists, sorry, my memory does not go that far back, as I have only been active here since November 7th, 2008. |

IMO, it should be changed to show the top 10 contributors over a rolling 12 month period. This would remove those players who busted ass a long time ago and no longer play. If they no longer play then really, what is the reason to keep them up there.
Plus this would allow the new faces the chance to bust ass and get on the leader boards. _________________ GET INVOLVED TODAY!

Hello once again!
Well, I like to think of the top lists as a form of Hollywood walk of Fame or the NHL Hall of Legends. That you did something a long ago, does not make it less meaningful. But it also does not mean that the things do not change. New stars leave their hand-/footprints/signatures on the street, new players join the likes of Wayne Gretzky.
Additionally, getting to the leader boards, does not require being an old hand... I have been active about 6,5 months... and as you can see, if you care to look, I am already pretty high up there.
What I suggested would just give a few more people a bit of fame, and maybe, hopefully spark a bit more competition for the places 11-20, which now go without notice... |

Perhaps a rolling 12 months period would not be a bad idea.
As Psonere mentioned, it would tend to reflect the most current players. Not that the current top 10 doesn't. |

Perhaps add the rolling 12 months in addition to the alltime one so we can see both? Admittedly I perhaps have a vested interest in quite liking the alltime format _________________ EU-Draenor:

Balgair does have a good point. I see no reason why we could not have both. "In addition to" sounds much better than "instead of" anyway.
Or, if the rolling idea is too tricky to do... How about yearly tops in the same general way as months go? Earlier years could be selected from a dropdown menu and as a default one would see the current year. That would also reflect the current players, or rather, submission makers. |

| Yeah, I'd be up for adding an additional 12 month rolling list. |
