It's that time of the month again and we have calculated the October concurrency numbers provided by the CensusPlus UI Addon.
Supported by an actual increase in EU player activity, the overall activity numbers remained largely flat. However, balancing out the EU increase was a continued drop in US player activity.
The continued drop in US player activity has now lowered the average number of prime time players to under 350,000 players. This marks the first time that the number of average players has dipped below pre-TBC levels.
This marks the first time that a marked decline has chipped into the 'original' growth of players since WoW was released. One has to wonder if WoW has peaked as the only thing that could possibly bring a large influx of player activity will be the release of Wrath of the Lich King. But will it be enough to propel the activity numbers above their peak after The Burning Crusade's launch?
Next month it will be interesting to see what patch 2.3 will do for player activity numbers. Surely the addition of a new 10 man dungeon will lure many players online, but will it be enough?
